Approved Dorian Donations

We are a group of Bahamian community leaders and philanthropists, who want Abaco and Grand Bahama, two of the islands that comprise our 700 island archipelago, to recover from Hurricane Dorian in the most efficient and organized way.

We have therefore formed “Approved Dorian Donations” to establish clarity for donors, as they contemplate how to make a difference for victims of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas.

We believe it is of critical importance to provide the public with an interface to dependable and highly reputable entities that meet the criteria of transparency, accountability, experience and action. The Bahamas cannot afford for valuable donations to be mis-directed to the plethora of doubtful donor websites emerging on the internet.

This website includes only organizations that have established not-for-profit or charity status in their respective jurisdictions, or who are uniquely positioned to provide supplies or services needed by other listed entities. Please further note that this web site is not static, and will be updated with more links as they are brought to our attention and vetted, according to the criteria section of this website.

While Abaco Island and Grand Bahama Island and their neighboring Cays suffered catastrophic losses to life and property, our other major islands suffered no damage during hurricane Dorian. For this reason, aid organizations in Nassau, Eleuthera, Exuma, Long Island and elsewhere are all functioning properly. Corporations and individuals on non-impacted islands are working feverishly to accommodate displaced persons who have started arriving from the hurricane zone, offering them shelter, food and compassion.

We have also welcomed a number of international aid organizations, who are working hand-in-hand with NEMA, our National Emergency Management Agency. These international entities are providing logistical and technical support in all critical areas of the recovery.

We thank you for your support, and encourage you to be in touch with us should you have any questions or comments.
