Criteria

In selecting the organizations included on this list, we have considered the following factors:

  • Long-term sterling reputation in the local and/or international community
  • An established track record of action and results in providing assistance to survivors and stricken communities, following a crisis or natural disaster
  • Whether the organization prepares annual financial statements that are accessible for inspection by donors
  • Designation as a charity, not for profit, or similar structure in the relevant governing jurisdiction
  • Public access to a website (not only a Facebook page) that clearly sets out the mission of the organization, and explains in detail the nature of the Hurricane Dorian relief work being conducted by the organization
  • Donor access to an online link that processes credit card donations in a straightforward and secure fashion. This link can also provide information for additional payment methods such as wire transfers and cheques.

Please note several exclusions:

  • Commercial organizations will not be considered
  • Intermediary organizations (simply collecting funds on behalf of other organizations) will not be considered
  • Donors seeking to make contributions directly to the Bahamas Government are asked to contact NEMA, the National Emergency Management Agency

If your organization meets the above criteria and would like to be considered, please fill out this form and email it to Admin@ApprovedDorianDonations.com
